The Sex Expo returned for it’s second year to Brooklyn, NY and brought along a ton of new fans. Last year’s expo was a great introduction and this year it’s obvious that word of mouth spread as the crowds were thicker. This year I was around from the start of the opening ribbon cutting and the line outside had a few hundred people eager to walk inside. Once the expo opened I walked in and saw some restructured areas and a stage now featuring a DJ moved to the side near the windows and not in the middle of the show floor as it was last time. Everything was upgraded and now it’s show time.
A lot of the booths had moved around and the Chaturbate area was set up not far from the stage area with a number of ladies doing live cam from the show and interacting with fans. The women who work for Chaturbate really are some of the nicest and friendliest people I’ve met at shows over the years as they always make people feel welcome. Some of the other booths included The Romantic Depot, Bad Dragon who were going away free bags to guest and Pleasure Chest who’s own Carly S gave a great workshop on blowjobs/oral sex that had a packed room as she gave great advice that people seemed happy to pay attention to. It might have been my first workshop at one of these shows and it’s a serious look on how to please your partner and the in’s an out’s (no pun intended) on sex.
The main stage had a number of interesting presentations and contest such as a how many sexual positions can you display in 30 seconds, which won a couple a trip to Cancun, and a live recording of the Shameless Sex podcast with host Amy Baldwin and April Lampert. There was also a yoga class and some stand up comedy. In between they had music by the DJ and people just enjoying the show overall as they checked out booths, tried out the Sybian, and got immersed in the experience coming together with no judgement of anyone’s likes or preferences.
One of my favorite parts of the whole event was randomly running into people I knew. In the many years since I’ve been going to shows in the sex industry I’ve gotten to know a lot of cool people who help each other out in their own ways for everyone to be successful. I’ve also run into a lot of people from the past who showed up to an event I think some people may be nervous to attend but leave feeling glad that they did. The Sex Expo is a wondering place for friends, couples, industry people and anyone looking for a different an open minded experience to attend. It was a great second year and I’ll be back again next year for year number 3.
