Anime NYC 2019 Recap

This was my second Anime NYC and the word must have spread since last year because the crowds and show floor have definitely gotten bigger. I’m not as well versed in the culture of current anime as I am with comics or video games but I’m learning more and more as I start to recognize some of the cosplays I see at the event. The show itself is a nice end of the year cap after NYCC and brings out some of the usual audience but as expected those also more focused on the anime side of things. For the first time I also attended a panel for a Q&A with pop singer Poppy which was quite interesting to find out that she wasn’t really a fan of pizza to a shocked crowd. Besides that detour during my weekend, it was business as usual with cosplay, the show floor and good vibes to end off the year the right way.

I got a chance to catch up with a lot of friend at Anime NYC and stop and check out some booths like Funimation, Valeza who had some cool anime themed cars on display and all the things going on with Fate/Grand Order which had it’s own stage. Fate was also a popular cosplay this year and the usual favorites like My Hero Academia and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. There were a lot of great cosplay looks this year and you can check them out in my gallery posted separately from this show recap. Good Smile Company had a huge amount of figures on display fans could purchase. I also picked up a few t-shirts from Lua Stardust at the SonicBoomBox table which also featured the likes of Azulette, Elizabeth Rage and Arabella Kat who I both met the month prior at NYCC.  I’m keeping this one short as this is a busy time of year but I had a fun time on my last con weekend of the year and the gallery will be up shortly for everyone to check out to see the cosplay photos of the weekend. Until next time.
